श्रीकृष्णः बालकः। तस्य नवनीतं बहु प्रियम् । गोपस्त्री घटे नवनीतं स्थापितवती । अनन्तरं सा बहिः गतवती । कृष्णः बलरामः अन्ये बालकाः च तत्र गत्वा नवनीतं खादितवन्तः । गोपस्त्री आगत्य पश्यति । घटे नवनीतं न आसीत् । अग्रिमदिने सा नवनीतं घटे स्थापितवती । घटं रज्जुना उपरि लम्बितवती । अनन्तरं सा बहिः गतवती । सर्वे बालकाः तत्र गत्वा पश्यन्ति । घटः उपरि आसीत् । कृष्णः एकम् उपायं चिन्तितवान् । तदा बलरामः अधः स्थितवान् । बलरामस्य उपरि श्रीकृष्णः स्थितवान् । एवं कृष्णः घटं प्राप्य नवनीतं बलरामाय दत्तवान् । बलरामः नवनीतं मित्राय दत्तवान् । एवं सर्वे नवनीतं खादितवन्तः । गोपस्त्री आगत्य पश्यति । घटे पुनः नवनीतं न आसीत् । अग्रिमदिने सा नवनीतं घटे पुनः स्थापितवती । घटं रज्जुना उपरि पुनः लम्बितवती । तत्र रज्जुमूले एकां घण्टां स्थापितवती । अनन्तरं सा बहिः गतवती । बालकाः च तत्र गत्वा पश्यन्ति । घटः उपरि आसीत् । तत्र घण्टा अपि आसीत् । कृष्णः घण्टाम् उक्तवान् "हे घण्टे शब्दं मा करोतु" इति । ईश्वरस्य आज्ञा इति घण्टा किञ्चित् अपि शब्दं न कृतवती । पुनः बलरामः अधः स्थितवान् । बलरामस्य उपरि श्रीकृष्णः । कृष्णः घटं प्राप्य नवनीतं बलरामाय दत्तवान् । बलरामः नवनीतं मित्राय दत्तवान् । सर्वे नवनीतं खादितवन्तः । अन्ते कृष्णः नवनीतं खादितवान् । तदा घण्टा उच्चैः शब्दं कृतवती । तत् श्रुत्वा कृष्णः क्रुद्धः घण्टां पृष्टवान् "हे घण्टे, किमर्थं मम खादनसमये शब्दं कृतवती?" इति । तदा घण्टा उक्तवती "हे कृष्ण, एषः मम कुलधर्मः । यदा ईश्वरस्य नैवेद्यं भवति तदा घण्टाशब्दः भवति । भवान् तु जगदीश्वरः । अतः भवतः खादनसमये अहं शब्दं कृतवती" इति ।

English Translation

Sreekrishna is a boy. His most favorite thing is butter. Cowherdess (Gopika) kept butter in a pot. Then she went out. Krishna, Balarama and other boys went there and ate butter. She returns and looks. There was no butter in the pot. Next day she put the butter in the pot. She tied the pot with a rope and hung it high up. After that she went out. All the boys went there and looked. Pot was at high level. Krishna thought of an idea. Then Balarama stood on the floor. On top of Balarama Sreekrishna stood. Thus Krishna reached the pot and gave the butter to Balarama. Balarama gave the butter to a friend. Like this, everybody ate the butter. Cowherdess comes back and looks. There was no butter in the pot again.

Next day, she kept butter in the pot again. She tied the pot with a rope and hung up at a high level again. At the base of the rope, she put one bell. After that she went out. Boys went there and looked. Pot was at a high level.There was a bell also. Krishna said to the bell "Hey bell, do not make sound". "This is God's order" so, the bell did not make any sound. Again Balarama stood at the bottom. On top of Balarama stood Sreekrishna. Krishna reached the pot and gave the butter to Balarama. Balarama gave the butter to a friend. All of them ate the butter. At the end, Krishna ate the butter. Then the bell made a loud sound. Hearing that, angry Krishna asked the bell "Hey bell, why did you make the sound during my eating time?". Then the bell said "Hey Krishna, this is the nature of my family. Whenever an offering is made to God, then the bell rings. You are the God of the universe. So, during your eating time, I made the sound".
